Who is the Volley Geek?

My name is Kristen and first and foremost, I am a student of the game. I've dedicated my life to learning anything and everything I can about volleyball as well as what it means to be an athlete. I absorb knowledge like a sponge and I want to share my knowledge with those who are searching for it.

I currently attend Washington State University where I am working toward a BS in Physics. I am an INTJ and a Capricorn. I absolutely adore otters and I have a slight obsession with the Harry Potter series.

I have been on the court since I was two years old when my mother was the freshman team coach for her Alma Mater. I went on to participate in several camps and then I played nine years of club volleyball. I was a four year Varsity Starter for my high school. I also played two years of collegiate volleyball.

I have gotten to be a volunteer assistant coach for three club teams. I have also been a coach and a clinician for USYVL during the summer.

Currently, I am officiating high school volleyball with IEBO. This is my second year with this board. It is a small group that covers a large area. I mainly get to officiate 1B-2A schools. I also operate the scoreboard for WSU volleyball matches.

When I'm not participating in volleyball related activity, I'm studying or crafting. I love to upcycle and have incorporated used volleyballs into my crafting supplies. I am currently working with old jeans, plastic grocery bags, and old volleyballs.

I am a supporter of all Washington State sports teams including the Seahawks, Sounders, Mariners, Cougars, Huskies, Lutes, Thunderbirds, Aquasox, etc.

Oh, and I don't think it's physically possible for me to stop talking so you'll see my mouth open in every single picture when I'm playing. It's rather entertaining.

Let me know if you have any questions for me as I'd love to answer them!
